About Kids' Cabaret
Kids' Cabaret is a non-profit organization that gives today's youth a chance to immerse themselves in the art of theater, music, and dance. Kids' Cabaret is a summer musical theater program based in Hingham, Massachusetts where kids are given the opportunity to perform in a full-length musical. It also gives young adults the opportunity to direct, produce, choreograph, paint, design, build, teach, conduct and play for a musical performance.
Not only does Kids' Cabaret teach basic musical theater aspects to its participants, but it also builds character in each and every child involved in the program. Kids learn group cooperation, individual responsibility, and ways to overcome obstacles. Strong friendships are formed and unforgettable memories are made every rehearsal.
Auditions are held in mid-June right as summer is beginning, and rehearsals begin shortly after. Children ages 8 - 16 from all over the South Shore are welcome to audition. Rehearsals are held in the evening of Monday through Thursday in Hingham. Once it gets closer to showtime, there is an all day rehearsal called "Super Sunday" which entails polishing up scenes and numbers, learning the finale of the show, a talent show, and trying to run the show entirely for the first time. After a long summer of hard work, the final week entails two nights of dress rehearsals and finally are the three show nights.
It's never too late to discover your passion in musical theater. Everyone can find their own niche whether it be in the spotlight or working behind the scenes.
"Remember; there are no small parts, only small actors."
- Konstantin Stanislavisky
We give kids a summer of fun, and in the meantime, we put on a musical.
